Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Tom Miller (1945-2000) is widely known for his sculptures, paintings and prints, painted furniture, and the sly humor he often injected into his work. His pieces were bold, colorful, and wildly inventive. Miller termed his style, "Afro Deco."
His paintings are featured in the children's book, "Can a Coal Scuttle Fly?" which is part biography, part art book, with words by Camay Calloway Murphy, an arts and cultural activist in Baltimore.
A portion of the proceeds of the sales of these screen prints benefits Chase Brexton Health Services, Baltimore, MD, as per the artist's last wishes.
